Why Overstreet is (Almost) Irrelevant in the Internet Era |
In all honesty, there is little point in using the Overstreet Price Guide for its original purpose of looking up
prices.
The Internet is always up to date. Typical of all books published annually, Overstreet is written and edited between December and March, and by the time it arrives in our eager hands, it's already 'old news'.
MODERN LOVE?
Modern books are the most challenging to price using Overstreet, because OPG gives every book a nominal value of $2-3.
Plenty of people get in touch with a spreadsheet of 1990s and newer books they have spent/wasted hours and hours entering OPG prices for.
In reality, you'll be lucky to get 10c per modern comic, if you can find a dealer willing to buy them.
The prices are simply a guide. Without the tools to interpret this data, collectors are left scratching their heads.
